I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at university and achieved a very good mark in my end of year exams. With all the world events occurring at the moment I definitely chose the correct course.
Studying Politics and International Relations at University of Loughborough has exposed me to new opportunities. I joined the Finance and Economics Society which allowed me to listen to experts discuss various aspects of their disciplines. I also enjoyed the sporting facilities University provided such as Tennis, Boxing and Skiing and became members of their Societies. I also played five a side football and made use of the on-site gyms
I have made friends at university and recently went to Genoa in Italy with them to sample the culture and food. I have just returned from a four-week trip to Thailand and Indonesia, which really opened my eyes to what a diverse and interesting world we live in. I am sure I would not have gone on this trip if I had not had a year at university to give me the confidence to do such a thing. University has allowed me to become independent and slowly more confident. Independent not only in the way I think and study but also having to live on my own and be totally responsible for my actions. It has been a learning curve but one I’m enjoying and extremely grateful to the scholarship for.
I am looking forward to my second year. I want to continue to improve my grades and take up some new activities on the campus.
